Ivan Botanici
Ivan runs the Tabaccheria del Corso on via Nationale and the IL Pozzo underneath. A great friend and always helpful to visitors and residents alike. He speaks fluent english and is always helpful. His son Tomaso runs the tobacco shop which has Cuban and Italian cigars, beautiful writing instruments and gifts. IL Pozzo is filled with wonderful artistic photographs, watercolors and other creative items. Many of the framed photographs in our apartment were taken by Ivan's uncle. Marco Molesini
Marco and his brother Paolo run the wine shop in the Piazza della Repubbica and speaks fluent english. He is a expert in Italian wines, and Brunellos in particular. Many of us buy cases of Brunello to ship to the USA each year. The Molesini family also owns the grocery store across from the wine shop as well as the garage on the ground floor of the building housing our apartment. During the warmer months, Marco has a complementary wine tasting every Thursday evening following by a dinner with wines from the Winery at one of the better restaurants. Tania and Keith von Barkenhagen
Tania and Keith are Californians that moved to Cortona a few years ago. They ownt a farmhouse near Alessandra's home and have renovated and using as a B&B for rent. Tania sometimes does tour groups and Keith is a software engineer who works with clients in the USA.
